Magic Bullet Product Review: Will it Fit in Your Kitchen?

The Magic Bullet is one of the fastest growing kitchen appliances of our decade. You can't go a TV night without bumping into one of their infomercials. You get it all, the power base, the party mugs, the this, the that. You get it all for $99.99. Wow! Don't forget the hefty shipping rate - even eBay has cheaper shipping rates - I can't understand why these late night infomercials jack up their shipping rates - perhaps it's partly to subsidize the $99.99 rate, I don't know.

But it's not all bad news. It's just not a miracle from above, as they make it out to be. It's a mini blender. It's not as powerful as the 'more expensive' versions. It's a small, mini blender that can handle small and mini jobs. Which is great! I just wouldn't expect it to live up to all your kitchen needs.

Personally, I already eat a lot of fresh vegetables. I tend to chop them up into bite sized pieces. I don't really see the need to pulverize every fresh food item into a baby food puree, but that's just me. I do enjoy an occasional smoothie here and there. The Magic Bullet is great for making single servings of just about anything. Just toss in what you've got and the blender becomes your cup. This is what sells me. Simplicity.

But to claim that the Magic Bullet will do just about anything in 10 seconds is a bit miss leading in my eyes. I mean it takes at least 60 seconds to open up the 10 second recipe guide and find something you'd like. Plus another 5 minutes to find the ingredients in your fridge and another 5 minutes to clean up. And there's nothing wrong with that! It's still very quick at what it does, it's just not a 10 second job sometimes. Well, maybe it's 10 seconds of pushing the Magic Bullet down to blend something, but that's not all the time it requires to make a meal here people!

So far it's great at making little drinks or maybe a quick and fresh salsa. Wonderful! But what if you want to make a meal for a family of 5? Well, they give you as a bonus a bigger blender for this purpose. But like I said before, this Bullet is great for little jobs, that's what the motor is designed for. But when you start to introduce larger attachments it begins to put the motor under a lot of stress. The tiny "High Torque Power Base" just isn't enough to make big meals or large blended soups. You'll end up quickly over heating the motor and killing it. So keep it to drinks and salsas if you want to get life out of your Magic Bullet.

It is a super fast blender for small tasks. It cleans up super quick and is microwave and dishwasher safe, making it very convenient for the stay at home mom or dad. It's also great for making baby food because of it's size you don't need to fill up a huge blender. Also because of the small blender jars, they fit in just about anywhere - even on the inside door of your fridge. The Bullet is very convenient for space saving. Especially for those of you living in small apartments - this little blender takes up hardly any space and you'll make good use of it if you tend to eat a lot of fresh foods.

What I wouldn't do with it is chop hard things such as nuts to make pastes. I also wouldn't chop to much ice in it. Ice will chop in the Magic Bullet, but it will shorten it's life. If you're going to chop ice, make sure to have some liquids in there too. Let it sit for a minute to warm up the ice before blending. You'll get the same cold drink effect, and you'll extend the life of the motor in your blender.

All in all, this is a great little blender for small jobs. It doesn't take up a lot of space and cleans up really easy. It won't change your life over night, it's just a blender. But it's a great blender for many quick and easy jobs around the kitchen. Just don't over do it and keep things light if you want it to last. Don't push it as far as those guys do on late night TV - they have access to new blenders for every meal. You'll only have one - if it breaks, it's gone. Treat it as a MINI blender and you'll have fun!
